Frozen Yo Opening Across From the National Zoo in Woodley Park, Offers Pay-Per-Ounce System
Restaurants

(Woodley Park, DC)---Frozen Yo is moving in across from the National Zoo in Woodley Park.  Frozen Yo, which currently has locations in Friendship Heights, Downtown, and Columbia Heights, seems to be expanding rapidly.

In addition to opening a Frozen Yo at the Zoo, the yogurt shop is also working on stores at 1900 M Street, on Eye Street next to the Farragut West Metro, as well as several locations in Virginia and Maryland.

I've been to the Frozen Yo in Columbia Heights and loved the fact that it offered a pay-per-ounce system as opposed to places like Sweetgreen that charge by the size of container or amount of toppings.

Aside from adding several new stores, it seems as though Frozen Yo's pay-per-ounce approach is making an impact on the Washington, D.C. yogurt landscape.

Yogiberry in Cleveland Park recently switched from the standard, (and what I believe to be) overpriced, yogurt menu that sells the cold treat by the size of the containers and amount of toppings, to the Frozen Yo inspired pay-per-ounce system.  This was an interesting move that I believe will become a trend all over the city, simply because customers want to have the flexibility to choose how much they eat, and in turn, how much they pay.

What do you think about this issue?  Do you prefer the old pay system or paying per ounce?
