The Guardian Angels will pass out safety tip flyers outside the Woodley Park metro station today starting at 3:30 p.m. in response to the rash of robberies all over the District of Columbia.
On February 17, there were robberies near 6th and F streets and 5th and D streets NE just hours apart.
In Northwest there were five robberies in 24 hours.
Just in the last two days thieves hit 12th, 15th, 16th, 20th streets and Connecticut Avenue Northwest.
On February 13, thieves hit upper northwest Washington, two of which were carried out at gunpoint.
Robberies which occurred about 11 p.m. Monday at River Road and 46th Street and in the 5000 block of Wisconsin Avenue in the Friendship Heights area. Another robbery occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Warren Street, about a mile south of Friendship Heights, also Feb 14 overnight, an armed robbery occurred near the intersection of 11th and W Street, and another robbery happened on the 1200 block of Capitol Street. and just last night at around 8:15pm 22nd and S street in the Kalorama area In less than 2 months it seems criminals feel the citizens in the District of Columbia is an unlimited ATM without fear of the community. It's time to fight back. The Guardian Angels are recruiting new members 16 and up and will give them free training in streets survival self defense. Also Saturday, February 25, 2012 The Guardian Angels will give a free 1 hour self defense class in Anacosita
The Guardian Angels have partner up with MPD and will have Blike and foot patrols though out the District of Columbia to help deter the robberies. Patrols will be seen on the MBT, Anacostia, upper NW and on the metro Green line.
