Owner Of Rogue States in Dupont Says Burger Shop Will Re-Open Later This Month Under New Name

Rogue States, the late-night burger shop located at 1300 Connecticut Avenue that shut down "temporarily" last October, is on the verge of finally re-opening its doors in the coming weeks under the name “Black and Orange”, according to the restaurant’s chef and owner Raynold Mendizabal.

“We are shooting to re-open the last week of June,” Mendizabal said.  “We're doing some renovation of the vent, so that might go wrong (and delay it) one day or two, but the target right now is the last week of June, and we're driving hard for that.”

My Kind Of Senor-Rita

My Kind Of Senor-Rita

Finally something that tastes as good as it looks in the picture. Rita's an ice cream parlor standing by its' mission of providing "Ice Cream Custard Happiness" has become a popular choice amongst District of Columbia and Maryland area residents. Originally started in the summer of 1984, Bob Tumolo, a former Philadelphia firefighter, opened his first store in Bensalem, Pa, deciding to name the then small time ice cream business after his wife, Rita. Initially developing the perfect flavors alongside his mother Elizabeth, the team concentrated on using fresh fruit and natural products in order to provide customer satisfaction.

The Best Jerk Chicken I've Ever Had: Petworth

The Best Jerk Chicken I've Ever Had: Petworth

Ah, Yelp strikes again.

I saw some impressive reviews of Sweet Mango Cafe on the food rating site: It received four stars, which is hard to do.

But when I began reading up on Sweet Mango Cafe, I realized that even more intriguing than the ratings on Yelp was the food that the establishment serves.

Jerk chicken and coco bread, oxtail stew and curries, as well as a variety of other Carribean foods that most D.C. restaurants just don't offer.

I, for one, love this kind of cuisine, so I checked out Sweet Mango Cafe and it did not disappoint.

Located at 3701 New Hampshire Avenue in Northwest right near the Petworth-Georgia Avenue Metro station, Sweet Mango delivers huge portions of really flavorful food.

Pho 14 On Park Road Expanding

It appears as though Pho 14, one of my favorite Columbia Heights restaurants, and one of the best Vietnamese joints around, is expanding.

Prince of Petworth reported today that the restaurant is still several months from delivering on the expansion.
